PhD research
This blog is a way to keep track of and share research, analysis and information relating to the role of developing countries (particularly India) in the UNFCCC climate change negotiations. So naturally I post a lot of info about the BASIC countries including Joint Statements from the quarterly Ministerials and related commentary I find on the web.
I’m also very interested in the policy space where International Trade and Climate Change intersect. I completed my Master’s thesis on the in/famous GATT and WTO tuna-dolphin and shrimp-turtle disputes and have been interested in the area of overlap ever since.
Non-PhD research
I am also a part-time researcher on the Mitigation Action Plans and Scenarios (MAPS to its friends) programme which is “a collaboration amongst developing countries to establish the evidence base for long term transition to robust economies that are both carbon efficient and climate resilient. In this way MAPS contributes to ambitious climate change mitigation that aligns economic development with poverty alleviation.”
Within MAPS my main focus is predominantly on India, NAMAs and BASIC more generally.
